Frequently Asked Questions

What is your training methodology?

We are considered balanced trainers, which means we use a variety of tools and approaches.

Our methods are based on leadership, patience, positivity, fun, and games.

We understand every dog is different, which is why we have numerous tools and techniques in our training programs to make every program as unique as the dog we work with.

Our training goals are to build confidence, bring balance, deepen your bond with your canine, and bring happiness to your home.

Dogs use body language and eye contact to communicate in their natural environment, which we teach you how to understand and use as well. We work with the dog not through the psychology and lens of a human, but through the psychology and lens of a dog.

Our programs teach you how to "speak dog",  because knowing how to communicate with your dog is a crucial part of teaching and training,

**There is a lot of conflicting information out there regarding 'balanced dog training'. If you want more information on our training style, follow us on social media to watch us in action or call us to chat.**

Do you use positive reinforcement?

Yes! We love to use positive reinforcement and value reinforcement based methods. However, we do not limit ourselves to only one method. We build a strong training foundation using all four quadrants of operant conditioning.

Here is a detailed article that provides information on how effective and humane it is to use all four quadrants, rather than limiting yourself to only one quadrant (positive reinforcement).

What tools do you use to train with?

We are very tool friendly.

Our main tool of preference is the K9 Lifeline Transitional Leash® which is a slip leash that easily transforms into a Halti. This pressure release tool is not only used for safety reasons but also when used right can be extremely useful in helping your dog cope with the pressures in their every day life.

As versatile trainers, we are always open to training with any tool you desire. For reliable results, we will provide suggestions on what tool may work best for your dog. Whether it be a Head Halti, Martingale Collar, Flat Collar, Prong Collar, Slip Lead, E-Collar (brand matters for E-Collars, we recommend E-Collar Technologies), Flexi Lead, Muzzle, or Clip Leash, we will go over any tool of interest and show you how to use them correctly and effectively. Food and toys are also a huge part of our training programs and we are huge advocates for a species appropriate diet.
